The vibrant and social aspects of the hairstyling industry became apparent to me when I began my hairstyling career in 1993 in Victoria, BC. I get satisfaction in getting to know my customers and connecting with them. So that was what had me hooked and now I get to create and care for people all at the same time. For me, it’s about treating the individual inside and out. Eventually I made my way to Vancouver and finally Maple Ridge, which I think is my forever home. During this time, I have worked alongside legendary master stylists, educated myself and honed my skills, become a top-notch makeup artist, a respected senior stylist and advanced educator with Suki’s Salons, Spa and Academy, specializing in hair cutting. Along the way, I also dabbled in film and television.
In 2010, I established Canvas Salon, in order to use my trade to be creative and make people look and feel great. I remain true to my opinion that my customers must feel beautiful and also feel cared for while I serve them. I like to find gorgeous solutions for my customers that are beautiful and stylish, but also easy to manage. I’m best known for precision and attention to detail, but, as I was once told.. if it looks good, it looks good. I like to teach my customers how to style their hair to increase their hair confidence and decrease any hair frustration. I think this helps my customers see how beautiful their hair really is. I also like to help my customers choose just the right products for their hair so that they have less “stuff” in their bathroom and understand how hair care affects its appearance and condition.
When I’m not working, I read, garden, spend time with my dog and study herbalism and nutrition. I am inspired by art and culture.
